Lifestyle Medicine 101: The Foundations of Long-Term Health

Hosted by Moonflower Community Co-op and Elevated Health Moab founders Jessica Walsh, RN & Angela Alexander, MD, this evidence-based educational workshop is designed to help participants understand the foundational drivers of long-term health. This session focuses on practical, sustainable strategies for improving energy, metabolic health, and long-term wellbeing rooted in clinical science and real-world application.

What you’ll learn:

  • What lifestyle medicine is—and how it differs from traditional reactive care
  • How daily habits influence long-term health outcomes and why addressing root causes matters
  • The 6 evidence-based pillars of lifestyle medicine
  • Practical applications of the 6 pillars for daily life

Participants will leave with actionable tools they can begin using immediately to improve their personal health foundation.

About Jessie Walsh, RN, BSN:

A registered nurse with over 16 years of experience, Jessie blends evidence-based lifestyle medicine principles with a practical, compassionate approach to change. Her passion lies in helping individuals of all backgrounds reclaim vitality through nutrition, movement, stress support, and sustainable habits.

A longtime educator and motivator, Jessie is skilled at breaking complex health concepts into simple, doable steps—and helping people stay connected to their “why.” She lives what she teaches, staying active through trail running, cycling, hiking, resistance training, and yoga, finding balance through mindfulness, whole-food cooking, time outdoors, connection, and purpose.

About Angela Alexander, MD, DipABLM, FACEP:

Board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine, and a proud member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Alexander has spent years caring for patients in high-stakes, life-or-death situations. That experience sparked a calling to focus on prevention—empowering people to make the changes that can help them avoid those emergencies in the first place.

Dr. Alexander is passionate about helping patients take charge of their own health through practical guidance around the six pillars of Lifestyle Medicine. Her own lifestyle reflects her philosophy; her athletic background includes competitive mogul skiing and cross-country mountain bike racing. Today, she enjoys multi-day cycling adventures on both tarmac and gravel, along with hiking, skiing, and traveling.
