For the first two weeks in May, we will be hosting our quarterly Round Up at the Register fundraiser for local nonprofit Mindfulness in Education! When you shop at Moonflower from May 1st through 14th, you will have the option of rounding up your purchase total to the nearest dollar (or more), and your change will go directly to supporting this organization!

Mindfulness in Education is a small nonprofit that has been offering mindfulness and yoga training to the students of Grand County for 10 years. Their mission is “to strengthen youth’s learning capacity, mental wellbeing, empathy, and ability to thrive and contribute by teaching yoga and mindfulness skills to students.”

We offer programs at both the high school and elementary school. We hope to expand to the middle school, depending on our funding and cooperation with the school. The programs happen right in the schools. Our high school Yoga and Mindfulness class provides students with both skills to deal with stress, how to be happier in life, how to deal with challenging situations in addition to providing them with a credit that can go towards their graduation requirements.

All our students have dealt with the trauma of living through Covid. When talking to teachers and administrators, they all feel that students are still struggling. And there are many students who have situations in life that cause difficulties for them even when Covid is not part of our lives. The benefit of our youth learning mindfulness skills is huge! They will take these skills into their lives and be able to access them when needed.

Our long term goal is to work more closely with the school district to have our classes become part of the school curriculum.

We run on a very small budget. 100% of all donations will go directly to paying the instructors. We have volunteers who handle all the administrative duties.
