Moonflower’s Seeds to Start Grant selection committee is pleased to announce our spring 2025 grant recipient, the Moab Museum!
The Moab Museum seeks to “educate and inspire our community about the cultural and natural history of Moab and the Canyonlands region.”
The Moab Museum will be using this funding to support their U92 Speaker Series program, in conjunction with their current exhibition, “U92: Moab’s Uranium Legacy.” This exhibition explores the geologic, political, and cultural stories of our town’s uranium boom and the local and global impacts of this era, which continue to shape our community today.
Phase II of the U92 exhibition, “U92: Aftermath,” will open on July 19, 2025 with a presentation by Dr. Tommy Rock, a member of the Navajo Nation and researcher of the environmental, health, and cultural impacts of uranium mining on Native land.
The grant funds will support this opening event and the Moab Museum’s goals of “elevat[ing] Native voices in the public’s understanding of uranium mining and its legacy and in doing so, foster[ing] community, compassion, and deeper understanding of the wide array of experiences tied to these stories and the impact of uranium on the past, present, and future.”
Our biannual Seeds to Start grant funds aims to assist non-profit applicants seeking funding for a high-impact project or purchase focused on expanding community food security, promoting environmental justice, and/or directly benefiting underrepresented communities in need. We look forward to supporting this program! Learn more about the grant program and read about past projects we’ve funded here.
