After reviewing the applications, Moonflower’s Seeds to Start Grant selection committee is pleased to announce our spring 2023 grant recipient, Canyonlands Field Institute!
CFI’s mission is “to provide quality outdoor education on the Colorado Plateau, to inspire care of wild places, and renew the human spirit.”
CFI plans to use this funding to provide nutritious food for their Mental Health Hikes, which were recently featured in the Moab Sun News. This program offers opportunities for participants to not only reap the benefits of being in nature, but to do so intentionally with mental health professionals guiding them to be mindful of their experience.
This funding will make nourishing, healthy food available at no cost to more folks, easing that financial burden, making the hikes even more accessible to all and further supporting the participants’ holistic health.
Keep an eye out for CFI’s Mental Health Hikes later this year!
Our biannual Seeds to Start grant funds aims to assist non-profit applicants seeking funding for a high-impact project or purchase focused on expanding community food security, promoting environmental justice, and/or directly benefiting underrepresented communities in need.
