SUMMARY:Abstract and Landscape art by Daniel Johnson
DESCRIPTION:Moab Art Walk \nDaniel Johnson is a visual artist from Moab Utah.  He and his wife\, Alexis\, recently returned to Moab from Oregon State University\, where she studied Veterinary medicine\, and he studied art.  He has a Bachelor of Fine Art from OSU\, and an Associate’s Degree from Dixie State in St. George\, Utah.  Daniel and Alexis currently live in Moab with their daughter Danielle.  They also have 3 cats\, 2 dogs\, 2 cockatiels\, a bearded Dragon\, and a mouse. \nHis interests as a painter originally developed in high school where he focused on landscapes.  Though he has broadened his practice into abstraction\, he still makes time to work on landscape paintings in his studio and in plein-air.  Both his abstract and representational work are meant to invoke the same transcendent feeling one may get while exploring the Moab area.  His work has been featured in over 25 shows during the past 8 years\, including his first public solo show at the Albany Civic Theatre in Albany Oregon\, and Prism Magazine\, an art journal at OSU. \nHe has work in three permanent collections at the OSU Memorial Union\, the Beth Ray Student Success Center\, and the Yaquina Art Association.  Awards for his art include the 2013-2014 Helen E. Plinkiewisch scholarship\, the 2012-2013 Yaquina Art Association Scholarship and purchase award\, and the 2013 Gold Grant Scholarship Award from the Northwest Watercolor Foundation.
