SUMMARY:Beet Kvass Fermentation Class w/ Kira Brown
DESCRIPTION:My name Kira J Brown. I’ve been practicing massage for 18 years\, specializing in neuromuscular for the relief of chronic pain. I ave learned over the years how significant nutrition is in healing and maintaing one’s health. It does not have to be complicated nor expensive. One of the most beneficial health beverages(and easiest to prepare) is Beet Kvass-fermented beet juice-nutrient rich\, anti-inflammatory\, and a deep cleansing tonic! Scientific research illustrates inflammation to be the root of ALL disease. One jet plain feels better by drinking beet kvass. The fermentation process enhances already strong nutritional profile of raw beets\, increasing levels of enzymes & b vitamins\, as well as inoculating te beets with beneficial bacteria which support immunity and digestive health. Get ready for winter!!! \nBeet kvass carries with it all the benefits of beets\, marrying them with the benefits of fermented foods for a deeply cleansing tonic. Rich in betacyanins – the pigments responsible for beets’ characteristic hue\, beets possess strong antioxidant capacity with an ORAC value of 1\,776 which may be why beets seem to help mitigate inflammatory states in the body which may contribute to cardiovascular disease\, cancer and diabetes. In making beet kvass\, fresh raw beets are peeled\, chopped and set in a fermentation crock or jar and covered with a prepared brine of unrefined sea salt\, starter culture and filtered water. From time to time\, I season my beet kvass with organic ginger\, cloves\, allspice\, coriander\, cardamom or orange peel. The kvass then ferments for about a week before it is decanted and served.\nThe fermentation process enhances the already strong nutritional profile of raw beets\, increasing levels of food enzymes and B vitamins (particularly folate). It also inoculates the beets with beneficial bacteria which support immunity and digestive system health. \nBeet kvass takes 3- 7 days to complete so it’s great to fill in for the time kombucha is brewing. I sometimes enjoy both at the same time or alternate between the two. \nThis class will teach the method\, detailed benefits\, and samples of tis medicinal beverage.\nIngredients: 32 oz yogurt\, 5 beets\, purified water\, good sea salt like Real\, 2 qt canning jar
