DESCRIPTION:This quarter’s Round Up at the Register campaign will be held from November 1st-14th and will benefit Rim to Rim Restoration! For a two-week period\, once a quarter\, we offer the opportunity for owners and customers to “round up” their purchases to the next whole dollar to raise funds for a local non-profit’s project or special purchase. \nRim to Rim Restoration is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on restoring native riparian ecosystems and building community relationships connecting land managers\, researchers\,\nlocal residents\, and other project partners. Rim to Rim works across administrative boundaries assisting with project coordination\, technical knowledge\, and native plant materials. \n100% of the funds from the Round Up campaign will go directly to Rim to Rim. Light refreshments will be provided. \nPaul has been photographing the Moab area since 1995 when\, like many\, he discovered his love of the region on a family road trip. His experience was transformative and today Paul\ncan be found wandering the backcountry of Arches National Park\, where he is in his third season as a ranger. \nLast year Paul presented a photography talk for the Canyonlands Natural History Association’s Fall Lecture Series titled “Photography Impacts & Influences in Our Public Lands.” Paul is passionate about photography and intrigued by the role it takes in making memories\, shaping experiences\, and defining how we interact with our public lands. BEACON has been operating since 2005 and serves more than half of Grand County students in the K-8 age range. They consistently serve children and youth from marginalized families with more than 60% of their students qualifying for the free and reduced lunch program. SUMMARY:Round Up at the Register for Underdog Animal Rescue & Rehab
DESCRIPTION:Our Round Up at the Register campaign for this quarter will run from August 1st-14th for Underdog Animal Rescue & Rehab! For a two-week period\, approximately once a quarter\, we offer the opportunity for owners and customers to “round up” their purchases to the next whole dollar to raise funds for a local non-profit’s project or special purchase. \nUnderdog’s mission is to rescue and rehabilitate companion animals from the Four Corners reservations of the American Southwest through vet care\, spay/neuter\, and adoption services\, while supporting Native Americans in the care of their animals. \nFunds raised from the Round Up campaign will be used locally for vet care\, medicines\, puppy food\, transportation\, and an ongoing concrete project to make their shelter safer for their pups. On the reservations\, Underdog works to combat the stray and at-large companion animal population by providing no-cost vaccination clinics and subsidizing spay/neuter services for the native population. Each spay/neuter clinic costs Underdog $5000 to contract with a mobile spay and neuter unit and provide lodging\, food\, and gas to volunteers. During the clinics\, Underdog staff and volunteers spay and neuter up to 250-300 dogs and cats and provide hundreds of vaccinations to the animals! \nIf your organization is interested in participating in Round Up at the Register\, please apply here or ask for an application at our office.

SUMMARY:Perennial Plants Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The latest installment of Moab Community Gardens’ free workshop series will be on July 16th at the CommuniTea Garden. \nJeff Adams\, local permaculture and landscaping contractor from TerraSophia\, will be teaching about the diverse benefits of perennial plants\, as well as how to plan and care for their growth. \nJoin Jeff for an exploration of the role of multifunctional perennial plantings to enhance your garden’s ecosystem services and harvests. The CommuniTea Garden will serve as our living laboratory as we dive into principles for designing and stewarding diverse polycultures and meet some great perennial plants. \nThis workshop is organized by Moab Community Gardens\, a project of the Resiliency Hub\, co-sponsored by Moonflower Co-op and the City of Moab. We’re grateful to partner with this local non-profit to bring free education to the community! We will be providing light refreshments.
