DESCRIPTION:This weekly fall workshop series will focus on addiction recovery\, trauma\, and connecting to your inner world through yogic philosophy\, stories\, movement\, and meditation. Each month of the series will center on a different theme linked to a different Hindu god or goddess\, beginning with a lecture the first week\, taught by Trista Winder\, followed by three weeks of yoga classes integrating what you learn in the lecture\, taught by Angela Houghton. Each class will build on something from the last\, but also be accessible for people just dropping in. \nClasses will be held in the MARC Stage Room*\, Mondays from 5:30-7pm. Free and open to all. Trista is also a deep tissue massage therapist and her experience working with students and clients in a healing realm led her to study developmental and complex trauma. Passionate about recovery and healing\, she is currently enrolled in a Master’s program for Marriage and Family Therapy\, and hopes to help people connect with their deepest capacity for living and healing. DESCRIPTION:This quarter’s Round Up at the Register campaign will be held from August 1st-14th and will benefit Community Rebuilds! For a two-week period\, once a quarter\, we offer the opportunity for owners and customers to “round up” their purchases to the next whole dollar to raise funds for a local non-profit’s project or special purchase. \nCommunity Rebuilds is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to build energy efficient housing\, provide education on sustainability\, and improve the housing conditions of the workforce through an affordable program. CR works with low-income families and individuals to construct affordable homes using “dirt cheap” materials including locally sourced sand\, clay\, and straw. They also operate a free internship program for young emerging professionals to get hands-on experience in natural building and learn about affordable housing. \nDonations go towards making CR’s homes affordable to low-income residents of Moab and supporting their internship program’s housing costs. \nTo learn more about our Round Up at the Register program\, click here.

She mostly uses watercolors on 100% cotton canvas using Winsor Newton paints\, as well as some acrylics. Her colorful creations blend traditional European folk art and Impressionist styles. \nGabriela has shown her work in numerous galleries and sold art all over the country\, including in a high end gallery in Santa Fe for many years\, and across Europe. One of her proudest accomplishments was when some of her artwork was accepted  by UNICEF and a planetarium of Phoenix. \nCome see what you think at the May Moab ArtWalk!

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, April 11th to support Mindfulness in Education! \n\nOur mission is “is to strengthen youth’s learning capacity\, mental wellbeing\, empathy\, and ability to thrive and contribute by teaching yoga and mindfulness skills to students.” We offer yoga and mindfulness classes at both the high school and the elementary school. Our focus in the community is to help our students learn how to better cope with stress and anxiety and to hopefully teach them skills that they can carry with them throughout their lives. These funds will only be used to compensate our instructors. \nAll administration comes from volunteers. We are a small non-profit and any funding we receive goes directly to the teachers who are dedicated and impassioned about teaching these important skills. We are currently working on a simple website that is being done by a volunteer. \nWe are also working with school administrators as we would like to be able to expand our offerings to the middle school in the future. Currently we are working at keeping our current programs funded for the coming school year. \nStudies have shown us the importance of good mental health. We have the students submit evaluations at the end of each trimester. It is apparent from these evaluations how much they are taking away from these classes. We will continue working to keep going to further benefit as many students as we can! \n\n\n\n\n\nEvery second Tuesday of the month\, Moonflower Co-op donates 5% of the day’s proceeds to an organization doing important work in our community.
