SUMMARY:5% Day for Wellness Collective
DESCRIPTION:Every second Tuesday of the month\, Moonflower Co-op donates 5% of the day’s proceeds to an organization doing important work in our community. \nJoin us on Tuesday\, November 14th to support the Wellness Collective! \n\nWellness Collective is dedicated to promoting the well-being of the Moab community. We believe in ensuring equitable access to health and wellness programs and resources\, striving to make a positive impact on the lives of our community members. Our programs are designed with a strong emphasis on providing essential mental health support. \nOur vision is to create a thriving and healthy community where each individual has the opportunity to reach their full potential. We are continuously working towards this vision by adapting our services to meet the evolving needs of the Moab community. \nWellness Collective plans to use funding from the 5% Day to initiate and expand two new long-term wellness programs: \n\nExpanded Health Hikes: In collaboration with the Canyonland Field Institute\, we have ambitious plans to expand on the Health Hikes program. This initiative combines the benefits of outdoor therapy with a comprehensive mental health and wellness component. By leveraging the breathtaking natural landscapes of Moab\, we aim to provide a unique and therapeutic experience for community members\, fostering physical and mental well-being. This expansion will allow us to reach a broader audience and offer a holistic approach to health and wellness.\nTherapeutic Art Program: Recognizing the healing power of art\, we are excited to introduce a therapeutic art program for the Moab community. This program will provide a creative outlet for individuals seeking to address emotional\, psychological\, and spiritual needs through artistic expression. Art therapy has been shown to be a transformative tool for personal growth and healing\, and we believe it will be a valuable addition to our offerings. This program will be open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds\, further diversifying our services and addressing a broader spectrum of community needs.\n\nIf you are interested in signing your organization up for a 5% Day\, please fill out this form.

SUMMARY:November ArtWalk with Louise Seiler
DESCRIPTION:For the last Moab ArtWalk of the year\, we are featuring local painter Louise Seiler! \n\nSometimes we get that “second chance” in life. I’m pleased to again be invited to show my new paintings after the 2020 Covid outbreak. This time I look especially forward to the artist’s reception/gallery stroll and visiting with friends I could not three years ago. My whimsical style shows a portraiture study of pre-Columbian figures and their totem spirit-guide creatures. \n\nCome see what you think and meet Louise at this month’s ArtWalk! Light refreshments will be provided.

SUMMARY:October ArtWalk with Josie Moe
DESCRIPTION:The October Moab ArtWalk will be Saturday\, October 14th from 5-8pm. Stop by the Datura Deli to check out the current art show on display. Meet and chat with our featured local artist for the month\, Josie Moe. Light refreshments will be provided. \nHi\, I’m Josie! I’ve been living in Moab for over four years\, and during that entire time one of my strongest passions has been trying to capture the immense beauty and sometimes surreal nature of this landscape through my photography. These photos are a collection of my film and digital work from all over the southwest. It’s a mix of giant lonely landscapes and busy close up botanicals. To me it shows that on the surface\, the desert may seem vast and empty but upon closer inspection one finds it teeming with life that has adapted in unique and fascinating ways. I hope my photos inspire the viewer to pause a second longer to ponder these interconnected elements that help make the southwest so magical. \nCome see what you think at this month’s ArtWalk!

SUMMARY:The Invitation to Connect: Yoga\, Trauma\, & Recovery Workshop Series: September 11th
DESCRIPTION:This weekly fall workshop series will focus on addiction recovery\, trauma\, and connecting to your inner world through yogic philosophy\, stories\, movement\, and meditation. Each month of the series will center on a different theme linked to a different Hindu god or goddess\, beginning with a lecture the first week\, taught by Trista Winder\, followed by three weeks of yoga classes integrating what you learn in the lecture\, taught by Angela Houghton. Each class will build on something from the last\, but also be accessible for people just dropping in. \nClasses will be held in the MARC Stage Room*\, Mondays from 5:30-7pm. Free and open to all. The Monday lectures will also be offered on Zoom. Please email tristawinder[at]gmail.com for the Zoom link. \n*Location subject to change. October 2 and 9 classes will be held in the MARC Dance Room. Please check this page for the most up to date information. \nTrista and Angela invite you to your practice: We’ll use the body as a tool to explore and connect to your inner world. You are welcome if you’ve never practiced before. You are welcome if you have been practicing for years. This offering is an opportunity to play with yoga in a heart-centered practice where we will guide you through moving your body\, connecting to your breath\, and being still with intention. \nOn this journey\, we’ll use yogic philosophy and stories alongside movement and meditation. The stories can invite humor and curiosity as we explore the modern human experience with grace. Within this spiritual container\, we’ll explore trauma and the undigested hurts. The invitation is in how we create a personal practice that speaks to the needs of our soul. Recovery\, yoga\, connection: This is a practice that invites the practitioner to wholeness\, one breath at a time. \nTentative Workshop Schedule:\nSeptember 11th (lecture)\, 18th\, 25th\, October 2nd:\nYoga\, Trauma\, & Addiction & Igniting Your Own Path (Ganesha)\n*October 2nd class will be in the MARC Dance Room \nOctober 9th (lecture)\, 16th\, 23rd\, 30th:\nYoga\, Trauma\, & Addiction & Igniting Abundant Energy (Lakshmi)\n*October 2nd class will be in the MARC Dance Room\n*October 16th and 30th classes will be on the MARC patio (outside – please dress for the weather) \nNovember 6th (lecture)\, 13th\, 20th\, 27th:\nYoga\, Trauma\, & Addiction & Igniting Intelligence and Creativity (Saraswati) \nDecember 4th (lecture)\, 11th:\nYoga\, Trauma\, & Addiction & Igniting Devotion & Discovery (Hanuman) \nAbout the Instructors:\nTrista Winder\, LMT; E-RYT 500; Trauma Informed Life Coach\nTrista has been teaching yoga for fourteen years\, discovering her passion for yoga early on as a teenager in high school.
