DESCRIPTION:Come discover why you should think more about the potatoes you are consuming. There are serious issues with how we are conventionally growing potatoes that have far reaching implications for our health. How did we get into this mess and what is the path forward? \nCastle Valley Farms is dedicated to growing the most nutrient dense\, chemical free food possible. Tommy Mayer will give a presentation on the farm’s journey to potatoes\, a bit of science about the relationship between specific gravity (density) and the culinary use of particular varieties\, and some interesting health benefits found in the more colorful ones. He will also bring a Dutch oven potato roast for demonstration and sampling. Potato seed will be available for purchase. \nThis class is free and open to the public. \nAbout Tommy \nCurrently the baker at Castle Valley Farms\, Tommy has worn many hats over the past 9 years… math and science teacher\, farm manager\, all while husband to Felicia and father to Grace and Llia. The whole family has thoroughly enjoyed living in this neck of the woods and lives most of their lives outdoors.
