DESCRIPTION:This quarter’s Round Up at the Register campaign will run from November 1st-14th and will benefit the Humane Society of Moab Valley (HSMV). For a two-week period\, once each quarter\, we offer the opportunity for owners and customers to “round up” their purchases to the next whole dollar\, to raise funds for a local non-profit’s project or special purchase. Last quarter\, we partnered with the Full Circle Intertribal Center and raised over $1\,200 for them\, benefiting our local Native and Indigenous communities. \nFrom HSMV: \n“Funds raised from the Round Up campaign will be used for a special project to sterilize pets belonging to low income families in the Moab area. The overall objective of this project is to reduce the financial burden of sterilizing pets owned by low-income residents. Many pets are intact\, and animals are often surrendered or turned loose because low-income families can’t afford pet care or move and don’t take their pets with them. A helping hand will help break the cycle of unwanted\, unaffordable litters and abandoned pets. The specific objective is to sterilize 50 pets from low-income households in the Moab area. DESCRIPTION:Join us all day Tuesday\, July 9th in supporting Community Rebuilds for our 5% Day for the Community. \nCommunity Rebuilds is a non-profit that was established in Moab in 2010. Their mission is to build energy efficient housing\, provide education on sustainability\, and improve the housing conditions of the workforce through an affordable program. \nAs a licensed general contractor in Utah and Colorado\, Community Rebuilds constructs affordable and energy efficient straw bale homes\, working with and training a dedicated group of student intern volunteers on each home project. These students are young emerging professionals with the desire to participate in an experiential program as they learn how to build low carbon\, modern natural buildings. \nEvery second Tuesday of the Month\, Moonflower donates 5% of the day’s sales to a local organization that furthers our mission of providing socially responsible foods\, goods and education in promotion of a healthy\, sustainable community. This newly formed non-profit offers Native American/Indigenous culturally specific programming\, focusing on nourishing healing and wellness through tradition and culture. Some of the programming includes: traditional food-ways\, life-ways\, traditional services and approaches to protection and healing for Indigenous women\, men\, and youth; language classes and parenting classes incorporating traditional teachings; Native American/Indigenous advocacy; kinship\, restoring cycles of matriarchy through traditional birthing\, and cultural services. \nWhen you shop at Moonflower\, you will have the option of rounding up your purchase total to the nearest whole dollar amount\, and your change will go directly to the FCIC. You’ll hear food forest stories\, learn basic design principles and how many possibilities one food forest can contain.\n\nThis class is led by Jessica Soza who has been a professional gardener and permaculture designer for 15 years. Most recently she spent 5 years developing the Low Bench Food Forest in Montana\, watching it transform denuded pasture into an acre of wild productivity and refuge.
