SUMMARY:Round Up at the Register for Moab Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:For the first two weeks of August\, we will be hosting a Round Up at the Register fundraiser to benefit the Moab Music Festival! When you shop at Moonflower during these two weeks\, you will have the option of rounding up your purchase total to the nearest dollar (or more)\, and 100% of your change will go directly to MMF! \n\nThe Moab Music Festival is a non-profit performing arts organization. Our mission is to connect music\, the landscape\, and people through world-class\, innovative musical performances and education. Thanks to the incredible support of the Moab community\, the Festival has grown over 33 years from a grassroots event into a nationally acclaimed festival celebrating music in concert with the landscape. While audiences hail from east coast to west\, our efforts remain strongly focused on serving the Moab community\, to enhance our cultural landscape through access to world-class musical performances throughout the year (over half of which are free or under $50)\, and to support local music education through musical story hours with Grand County Public Library\, BEACON String Camp\, our Winterlude concert series\, and much more. \nThe 33rd Moab Music Festival\, August 27-September 12\, celebrates the inaugural season by Artistic Director\, GRAMMY nominee and Stradivarius violinist\, Tessa Lark. Tessa’s programming is as diverse as her abilities and represents a new chapter for the Festival. Originally from Kentucky and classically trained at Julliard\, Tessa has curated a 33rd season with something for everyone\, from bluegrass and world music to classical and contemporary chamber works. Visit moabmusicfest.org for details. \n100% of the funds from the Round Up campaign will go directly to MMF. Your gift will support our free Community Concerts and annual K-12 music assemblies in 2025. These events are open to all and bring the best of the Moab Music Festival to music lovers of all ages and backgrounds across Grand County. \n\nLearn more about our Round Up at the Register program here.

SUMMARY:Round Up at the Register for Community Rebuilds
DESCRIPTION:For the first two weeks of March\, we will be hosting a Round Up at the Register fundraiser to benefit Community Rebuilds! When you shop at Moonflower during these two weeks\, you will have the option of rounding up your purchase total to the nearest dollar (or more)\, and 100% of your change will go directly to CR. \nCommunity Rebuilds is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to build energy efficient housing\, provide education on sustainability\, and improve the housing conditions of the workforce through an affordable program. CR works with low-income families and individuals to construct affordable homes using “dirt cheap” materials including locally sourced sand\, clay\, and straw. They also operate a free internship program for young emerging professionals to get hands-on experience in natural building and learn about affordable housing. \nYour donations go towards making CR’s homes affordable to low-income residents of Moab and supporting their internship program’s housing costs. \nDue to DOGE and other federal funding cuts\, we are currently navigating a significant funding gap that affects staffing capacity\, program stability\, and the completion of active projects. With timely financial support\, we can maintain momentum\, support our participants\, and finish what we started. This investment helps protect both the educational experience and the community impact of the work underway. \nLearn more about our Round Up at the Register program here.

SUMMARY:5% Day for Grand County Education Foundation
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, September 8th in supporting the Grand County Education Foundation! \nThe Grand County Education Foundation’s mission is to seek out funding to support activities and programs that are offered to Grand County K-12 students to strengthen their academic\, social\, emotional\, and physical well-being. \nThe GCEF is organized as a public charity and recognized as a 501(c)(3)\, tax exempt entity. Their top priority is the implementation of programs\, equipment\, and materials that will have an immediate impact on all students in the Grand County School District. \nThe GCEF feels that all students deserve the tools\, resources\, and experiences that will inspire and prepare them for a better future\, and wants our our students of Grand County to leave our schools socially aware\, culturally sensitive\, academically proficient\, and economically viable citizens of our community. \nFunding from the 5% Day will be utilized for: \n\nAcademic activities and athletic programs\nArts and music programs\nScholarships\nSupporting school libraries\nHomeschooling needs\nSupporting major school or classroom projects\nRecruiting volunteers to assist children\nOffering teacher recognition\nAnd more!\n\nThe GCEF receives funding from the following sources: \n\nPrivate donations\nCorporate donations\nFoundation donations\nBequests\nTransfers\nGifts\n\nGrand County Demographics \nGrand County School District (GCSD) is unique as a rural district serving a population that covers an entire county of approximately 10\,000 residents. GCSD is comprised of a student enrollment of 1529 with a 50% poverty level and 128 students who are limited in English proficiency. \nRisk factors for students who live in poverty and those with limited English proficiency increase as students continue into middle and high school. Risk factors include: few support systems to assist with school work\, belonging to anti-social peer groups\, and unhealthy lifestyles. These factors place stress on student performance which creates an increase in drop-out rates. An increase in drop-out rates equates to an increase in crime\, teen pregnancy\, depression\, and willingness to work in low-paying jobs rather than being career oriented. \nIt is recognized nationally that students perform better and stay in school longer if their educational experiences include hands-on\, experiential learning\, and opportunities for the arts and recreation. \nEvery second Tuesday of the month\, Moonflower Co-op donates 5% of the day’s proceeds to an organization doing important work in our community. If you are interested in signing your organization up for a 5% Day\, please fill out this form.
