Every second Tuesday of the month, Moonflower donates 5% of its daily sales to an organization making a positive impact on our community. On Tuesday, October 10th, 5% of our sales will be donated to the BEACON Afterschool Program. Read more about BEACON:
“BEACON Afterschool Program is an intentional blend of enrichment and academic programming serving grades K-8 in Grand County at the Moab Charter School, HMK Elementary, and Grand County Middle School. We offer a free academic assistance program; and enrichment programming on a sliding fee scale that includes diverse offerings in STEM & Science, Arts & Humanities , Language & Writing, and Outdoors/Environment & Recreation. We work with over 50 community partners each school year to serve Moab’s families and to provide community and family events. BEACON incorporates essential life skill building opportunities into all of our programs and works hard in partnership with others to achieve our mission- empowering students to discover their innate ability to succeed!”
Did you know that BEACON students participate in the Junior Chef’s Club at Moonflower’s Datura Deli? Every Wednesday from 3:45-5pm, you may hear elementary school children giggling and searching for equipment and ingredients behind the deli counter. About ten students from HMK Elementary and Moab Charter School participate in the Junior Chef’s Club, which exposes them to new and exciting recipes and cooking styles, including vegan and gluten-free options. This week, the kids made freshly baked potato wedges with a savory dipping sauce. They love the autonomy they have in the kitchen, and each week’s recipe is determined by feedback and suggestions from the kids. Stay tuned for more updates from the Junior Chef’s Club!
